[shadow=black,left,300]The rock that had just slipped out of Alex's hands skipped across the water, making it ripple slightly as a soft splash escaped from it. She was bored, really bored. How many people were ever bored at oh say, two in the morning she wasn't so sure. But, she was and that's what she knew.
She had taken a seat on the edge of the pond, between the darkness and had been watching the stars and doing absolutely nothing for the past ever. Alex started humming softly to herself as she thought for a moment. She could just go to the dorm and sleep? Nahh.
Alex was wearing a black tank top that night with a pair of her favorite jeans. A thin layer of eyeliner lined her emerald eyes and a coat of clear lip gloss had been applied to her lips, making the shimmer slightly as the moon hit down upon them.[/shadow]

Bert wandered across the grounds late...or rather early...in the night, soft sigh escaping his pale pink lips. How he had ever screwed up his sleeping pattern so severely, Bert didn't know, but he had sure done a heck of a job at doing so. The boy fell asleep at random hours during the day and could often manage to skip sleeping at night. This, of course, was why he was so exhausted during the day. But that was how Bert rolled and he would have to put some effort into fixing it, which he wasn't willing to do.
One side of the Hogwart's grounds that Bert hadn't paid much of a visit to was the part that contained the lake. Sure, he had been there every so often, but not recently. Coming to this realization, the boy turned sharply on his heel to begin making his way toward the small body of water that could be found along the more even part of the grounds, while much of the grounds was uneven and hilly.
Abnormally pale hands slide into the pockets of his black hoodie, chewing gently on his lip ring. It was a horrible habit to have because Bert tore apart the flesh of his bottom lip on a daily basis. To make it worse, since he always chewed on his lip ring it never had any time to heal. And soon enough, blood trickled over his lips, and Bert wiped it away quickly. At the edge of the shore, Bert saw a girl he wasn't familiar with. Stopping a few feet away so both of them would be comfortable, Bert greeted her with a soft "Hello,"

[shadow=black,left,300]It was too late to even begin to think anyone else would come by the grounds. Unless a professor was lingering about trying to catch people who were out of bed. But, either way when she heard a soft 'hello' come from nearby, she was rather surprised.
Alex's head turned around slowly, a piece of her blond hair falling into her eyes in the process. She brought herself up from the ground and walked toward the boy rather slowly. "Hellooo." She said back, just as softly. Normally Alex wouldn't have been a very chit chatty person, but tonight was different, and she didn't feel like being rude.
"A bit late to be wandering around, don't you think?"

In the few weeks Bert had been at Hogwarts, he had gathered that there were a lot of nasty people here that desired nothing more than to blow his head off with their nifty little wands. And because of this knowledge, Bert was ever so grateful when the girl didn't attack him with creative words. Bert wasn't offended by strangers, but just the fact that he had done nothing to them and they were already angry at him was enough to get his blood boiling.
"Nah," Bert responded, shaking his head some. "Its not late at all if you sleep during the day." Bert finished. The statement coming from Bert wasn't so untrue; he was what you could call...nocturnal. Semi-nocturnal, if there is such a thing. "But, yes, I suppose it would be late for someone that doesn't have an irregular sleeping pattern." Bert added with a short shrugging, acknowledging the fact that not everyone was nocturnal.

[shadow=black,left,300]"Ehhh. It's more fun at night anyway." Alex said with a small shrug. That, in her opinion, was very true. Alex had always found herself wandering around late at night and during the day, she barely ever found anything worth her while outside. Or inside, for that matter.
"I'm Alex, by the way. Alex Demon." She said, giving him a small smile, as she extended her right hand forward. What had gotten into her, my oh my she didn't know. But, she most definitely wasn't going to be like this for everyone. By the way this was starting soon enough she would be skipping around and giggling, no doubt.

Bert nodded his head in agreement. "Not as many morons out as well." Bert added. Well, excluding Bert, there weren't as many morons out and about late. "Its more exciting, anyways, there's some kind of edge to it." Bert commented, grinning a bit in his own little way. Bert felt somewhat immature saying this, because it sounded like he was implying that staying up late was a real thrill. Way risky, putting everything on the line.
"Its a pleasure," Bert said politely, simply using recycled words that he didn't know the true meaning behind. "The name's Bert. Bert McCracken." He introduced himself, taking her hand and shaking it. Bert had been called a million other things in his life (some that didn't have a thing to do with his actual name. Didn't even link to it in the least bit), but he preferred Bert over them all.
[ Its okay, dearest, we all have slow times ]

[shadow=black,left,300]"Ooh very true." Alex agreed as she nodded her head energetically. "All the good little children are tucked into bed by now. All gone from site." A pleased smile came across Alex's pale pink lips. She always hated seeing Gryffindors and all the others huddled in their own little groups, whispering across the lawns as if they actually had something to talk about.
"Pleasure, Bert." Alex said, replacing her hand by her side, before suddenly plopping back down on the ground. She brought her hand up to her hair and brushed a piece out of her face, sighing when it just fell back. "Somedayy.. I'm going to.." Alex paused for a minute, before looking up at Bert. "Eat a dandelion."
Obviously, the writer is awfully bored. Thank you.[/shadow]

A small smirk slide onto Bert's lips, grateful he had finally found someone who shared his ideas about houses that were not as great as the others. "Probably dreaming about ponies and pie." Bert said with a short roll of his eyes. He stopped for a moment, realizing he had had a dream about dancing pies earlier today. Giggling in his head, he pushed the thought aside.
When Alex sat down on the ground, Bert plopped down next to her on the slightly wet ground. When she told him of her life ambition, Bert grinned. "You have great dreams." He confirmed, nodding his head shortly. Bert paused a moment, opening his mouth once again to comment on her words. "I wonder what a dandelion would taste like..." He pondered over the thought.

[shadow=black,left,300]Alex laughed slightly at his words but shrugged soon after, "I dunno, man. Pie is pretty good." She said, nodding slightly. When was the last time Alex had had some pie? Hmm.. She couldn't remember, but she sure missed it.
She smiled a bright cheesy smile when he told her she had great dreams. "I have so many more, you won't imagine." She said and then thought about what a dandelion would taste like as well. "The wonders..." Alex looked around for a minute.. Maybe if she spotted one..
And indeed, she did. Alex crawled off a couple yards away from Bert before happily crawling back to him, and sitting across from him. The only difference from when she left was that she now had a bright yellow dandelion in her right hand. She extended out to the middle, and held it up just so both of them could see it. "Do we dare?"[/shadow]

Bert thought for a moment. "Yeah, your right, pie isn't over rated and morons aren't dreaming about it." Bert said, coming to his senses. Bert liked pie, it was one of his favorite deserts. As a matter of fact, it was his favorite desert. It was just so good, and piey. How could you resist pie? Honestly. Bert grinned when she said she had many more dreams. "Dreams are fun, in mine I fly." Bert said with a short nod. Flying would be like woah. Awesome.
Bert's grin grew at her next comment, knowing full well what was going through her mind. "Is is time for an experiment?" He asked, snickering some. When she retrieved a dandelion, Bert stared at it hard. "Hmm.." He said, tilting his head to change the angle of his observation. His thought ended quickly when he reached out and snagged a petal off of the flower. Bert paused for a moment. "Not that bad.." He ended, shrugging some. "Its actually pretty good."
